PHOENICIAN OR PALEO HEBREW
The ancient Hebrew alphabet is called Phoenician or Paleo Hebrew. The Paleo Hebrew will be listed on the left with the Modern Hebrew listed on the right.

	'Aleph (*aw'-lef): In English, it is, at times passed over silently " ' ", the ancient letter looks like an A on its side. Its meaning is an ox-head. Numerically it is the number 1 which is unity, commencement. There is some thought that aleph is a depiction of the season of fall, constellation Taurus, or indicating the time of creation. Tribe of Reuben*.
	Beth (*bayth): It is the English "B". Its meaning is a house. Numerically it is the number 2 which is union, division (also witnessing). Tribe of Simeon*.
	Gimel (*ghee'-mel): It is the English "G". It signifies a camel—representive of commerce. Numerically it is the number 3 which is divine completeness, resurrection. Tribe of Levi*.
	Daleth (*daw'-leth): It is the English "D". It signifies a doorway. Numerically it is the number 4 which is creative works, earth, (looks like a tent opening). Tribe of Judah*.
	He (*hay): It is the English "H". It signifies a window. Numerically it is the number 5 which is Divine grace, goodness. Tribe of Dan*.
	Vav (*vawv): It is the English "V" or "W". It signifies Joshua, Yeshua* (also indicates a nail, hook, or goad). Numerically it is the number 6 which is the weakness of man. Tribe of Naphtali.
	Zayin (*zah'-yin): It is the English "Z". It signifies a weapon. Numerically it is the number 7 which is spiritual completeness, perfection. Tribe of Gad*.
	Heth (*khayth): It is the English "Ch" nearly a "Kh". It signifies a fence. Numerically it is the number 8 which is regeneration, new beginnings. Tribe of Asher*.
	Teth (*tayth): It is the English "T". It signifies shelter, refuge, or security. Numerically it is the number 9 which is finality or divine completeness from the LORD, fruit of the spirit. Tribe of Issachar*.
	Yod (*yode): It is the English "Y". It signifies the palm* of the hand, power. Numerically it is the number 10 which is testimony, law and responsibility. Tribe of Zebulun.
	Kaph (*caf): It is the English "K". It signifies the hollow* or the curve of the palm of the hand. Numerically it is the number 20 which is redemption.
	Lamed (*law'-mad): It is the English "L". It signifies a goad* (*to teach*). Numerically it is the number 30 which is the Blood of Christ, dedication.
	Mem (*mame): It is the English "M". It signifies water, fluid, firmament*. Numerically it is the number 40 which is trials, probation, testing.
	Nun (*noon): It is the English "N". It signifies a fish*, Numerically it is the number 50 which is the Holy Spirit, Pentecost (Greek for fifty).
	Samek (*saw'-mek): It is the English "S". It signifies a tower, a fort, or a shelter, (journey, travel*). Numerically it is the number 60 which is pride.
	'Ayin ('peculiar), it has a [gutteral sound]: It signifies a eye, or the center of understanding (see-Strongs H#5869). Numerically it is the number 70 which is universality, Israel, and her restoration.
	Phe (*fay), in English it is the ph in phone; or Pe (pay), in the English it is the p as in pet: It signifies a mouth* (see-Strongs H#6310). Numerically it is the number 80 which is 2×40.
	Sade (*tsaw-day'), in English it is the ts in Mets: It signifies a fish hook*. Numerically it is the number 90 which is 2×45 (45 is preservation).
	Qoph (*cofe), in English it is the Q or K: It signifies a priests cap, sanctification, holiness, or the brain and spinal cord, (also ear). Numerically it is the number 100* which is God's election of grace, children of promise. (The letter as shown to the left was used back to the time of Moses. At about 500 B.C. to the time of Christ, the Israelite's adopted the Iberian letter which looks like a Roman Numeral X. This Iberian form of the letter was found on the Las Cruces inscription of the Ten Commandments. This Iberian style letter was used in ancient Spain and the mound culture of America, it was not commonly used in the Middle East.)
	Resh (*raysh), It is the English "R": It signifies head. Numerically it is the number 200* which is insufficiency.
	Sin (*seen) It is the English "S": Shin* (*sheen) It is the English "sh" as in show: It signifies teeth. Numerically it is the number 300* which is 3×100.
	Thav (*thawv) in English it is the th in Thin: Tav* (*tawv) in English it is the T: The ancient letter looks like a cross (see-Strongs H#8420). It signifies a mark, signature. Numerically it is the number 400* (4×100). (It's the 22nd letter of the alphabet and looks like a cross. Psalm 22 foretells of the crucifixion and His words on the cross.)
	NOTE: In the numerical equivalent of the letters to the birth order of Jacob's sons, Joseph would be "Yod" plus "Aleph" (10+1) and Benjamin "Yod" plus "Beth" (10+2). Dinah's birth was actually number 11, but not being a son she was not counted as part of the tribes. Also, if you see an ancient symbol which looks like a backward "K" it's a double M.
